Ron D. Pate began working with his dad, J.C. Pate, at the age of 12 in his home town of Tarboro, NC. Ron's dad was a lifelong entrepreneur and real estate investor. Initially Ron's dad had him help clean and repair rental mobile homes and small houses. Through this experience Ron learned a lot of powerful lessons, not the least of which was the power of having an entrepreneurial spirit, and the benefit of having a strong work ethic. At the age of 16, when Ron obtained his driver's license, his dad began relying on Ron to collect rents from many tenants throughout the area. Additionally, Ron assumed the role of property manager, helping not only to manage the books of his dad's real estate company, but also tasks such as interviewing tenants and coordinating repairs. At the age of 18, Ron had already begun his study of success principles and had established his first business, a network marketing company selling Amway products. During the early stages of this business venture, Ron developed his life plan, the same plan that he follows to this day. With the help of several mentors, Ron developed a plan that consisted of a dual path - one of entrepreneurship and one of technical and sales related experience in larger organizations. Through his entrepreneurial ventures Ron learned how to build successful small businesses and learned hands on skills not as easily obtained in more isolated roles in larger corporations. Those skills in turn enhanced Ron's ability to deliver value to the larger corporations in which he worked. Through Ron's experiences in larger corporations he was able to learn from a different set of experiences which in turn have allowed him to leverage the time and expertise of others in win-win fashion to grow several profitable companies in his spare time. Ron's corporate role began after a 4.5 year enrollment at NC State University in Raleigh, NC. There Ron earned a BSEE in Electrical Engineering, graduating in 1988 with honors (Magnu Cum Laude). In February 1989 Ron began work at ABB, in Pinetops, NC, later relocating to the ABB plant in Raleigh, NC. Ron worked for ABB until 2000, as an electrical design engineer, sales engineer, team trainer, and marketing representative and account executive. Ron worked at Ohio Transformer (later acquired by GE) following his time with ABB, serving as a sales manager and as Director of Internet operations. Today Ron works as a Sr. Product Manager for Elster. In his corporate roles, Ron has set several company and industry records and realized numerous local division and national awards of excellence, ranging from operations to sales and business development. Concurrent with Ron's corporate life, he also established his first real estate investment company, in September of 1990. By the end of 1990 the company owned over a dozen rental properties and continued to grow throughout the 1990's. Today Ron's investment companies are active in a large portion of Eastern North Carolina and own a diverse portfolio of residential and commercial properties. Over the years, Ron has bought and sold millions of dollars worth of real estate, and currently holds a multi-million dollar portfolio of residential and commercial real estate in North Carolina. Today Ron's investment companies are helping rebuild three communities in eastern North Carolina which have seen a lot of economic hardship and in which a lot of properties, owner occupied and rental alike, became run down. These communities are Rocky Mount, a city of approximately 60,000 residents, Tarboro, with about 10,000 residents, and Pinetops, which has around 2000 residents. Ron's companies have teamed up with numerous other like-minded investment companies which Ron has brought into this market to help make powerful changes in the lives of the people who are fortunate enough to live in the buildings or neighborhoods where this group of investors focus. Neighborhoods are being turned around and lives are being changed as a result. Ron's companies and their affiliates work closely with various city officials such as town administrators, city councilmembers, building inspectors, the police department, and others, all being very supportive of the incredible changes that are starting to be visible in certain areas. Ron is recognized by many as a powerful and motivating speaker and he regularly receives high marks from attendees of his events. Additionally, Ron is a sought after residential real estate investment and business and marketing expert in North Carolina. He is licensed by the North Carolina Real Estate Commission as a North Carolina real esate broker, and periodically assists companies in structuring win-win arrangements between parties in complicated real estate transactions. In addition to his investment activities and corporate roles, in 2001 Ron co-founded Key Business Institute, Inc., a provider of personal and professional success training, especially as related to real estate investing, in North Carolina. This organization is developing numerous personal and professional training products which will be offered for sale through its online store and various online affiliates in 2007 and thereafter. Ron is a published author having released his first book, Leverage: A Key to Success and Wealth, in 2004. Currently Ron has three additional books slated for publication, two in 2008. and one in 2009 as well as an eight volume real estate investment case study series providing detailed insights into 40 of the most interesting real estate investments completed by his companies over the past decade. Additionally, Ron is currently recording several audio programs on a variety of topics including personal success, real estate investing, and sales and marketing success.
